Through a detailed bibliographic analysis, the research delves into the physical attributes of a 1626 English translation of Ovid’s Metamorphoses by George Sandys, including its binding, typography, and paper quality. The study contextualizes this edition within the broader spectrum of the text's publishing history, emphasizing its unique place in the evolution of book production. Additionally, the project highlights the book’s provenance and its journey into the New York Public Library’s collection, as part of a donation from the Gordon Lester Ford family. The research paper is accompanied by a visually engaging presentation hosted on Milanote, which distills the research into a user-friendly and visually oriented format.

Methods
The project started with a comprehensive examination of the book, including its binding and title page, during two initial visits to the New York Public Library’s Brooke Russell Astor Reading Room for Rare Books and Manuscripts. Subsequent research focused on identifying the paper watermark and typeface used in the book, linking them to specific printers and paper mills. A basic formula collation was estimated. This phase was followed by an exploration of the text's printing history, the printers, and other associated individuals, along with preliminary provenance research. An evaluation of the book's condition and value was conducted next. A final visit to the reading room allowed for a review and verification of details. The gathered data was then synthesized into both a research paper and a visual presentation on Milanote.
